Forklift Danceworks celebrates all that there is to love about the roller skating life with SKATE! A Night at the Rink. Directed by Artistic Director Allison Orr and presented at Austin's Playland Skate Center, this new work will feature Forklift dancers and a large cast of community members- all performing on roller skates, of course!

Inspired by the skaters who frequent Playland's weekly adult night, SKATE! will showcase all of the elements one might observe on a night at the rink- from ladies' choice to all-skate, men's speed skate to couple's backwards skate. The cast includes teens through adults (oldest skater is 71!) and includes local jam skaters, competitive figure skaters, and even a few rollergirls.

The musical score, crafted by sound designer Bob Boster, will feature favorite roller skating songs- from 50s Organ Music to Disco to 80s pop. The hour-long performance will conclude with a grand all-skate, where audience members will be invited to join the performers out on the rink.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Ticket price includes roller skate rental for an hour of skating after the show.
