Bob Schneider’s “4th Annual Labour of Love Festival” returns to the Nutty Brown, August 30

Takes break from the recording studio to try out some new songs live.

Legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard and The Fire Ants also performing for the Project HELP (Homeless Education Learning Program) Benefit Concert.

For the fourth year running, Bob Schneider brings his Labour of Love Festival to the family friendly Nutty Brown Café and Amphitheatre in the Austin Hill country on Saturday, August 30t.” The end of summer “musical celebration for the working man and woman” promises to be an evening of surprises as this year, the legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard will share the evening with Bob.

Bob’s fans know they can always expect the unexpected at one of his concerts but on this night they can expect to hear new songs from his forthcoming album. Schneider is currently in the studio at work on his ninth solo album, ironically (but, tentatively) titled, Introducing Bob Schneider, which will be released at the beginning of 2009. Working with producer, Dwight A. Baker, Bob promises a return to the style that he is best loved for.  “I’m making an album with the quirkiness and playfulness of Lonelyland and I’m Good Now, with just a hint of the darkness; songs that showcase my songwriting and my singing and songs that will translate to playing live…we’re looking forward to playing these new ones in front of an audience,” says, Schneider.  Die-hard Bob Schneider fans will also be thrilled to learn that the new album will include the first studio recordings ever of longtime concert favorites, “Tarantula,” and “Bombananza.”

The legendary and respected Texas songwriter, Ray Wylie Hubbard, will expand the evening’s fun with highlights from his fifty-year musical career and the insightful, often humorous, and sometimes frightening nature of his songs. Also appearing are The Fire Ants, a band made up of high-school age Austin musicians, whose stellar musicianship is turning heads their way at every performance.

A portion of the proceeds for this show will be donated to Project HELP (Homeless Education and Learning Program). In collaboration with the Austin Independent School District, local service providers and private partners, Project HELP assists students in temporary living situations due to crisis and/or economic hardship, to enroll, participate and succeed in school by providing basic needs and academic services as well as linking students and their families to Key AISD and local community support services.
