Three legends of rock and soul make an exciting summer night of live music. Archie Bell (Houston, TX), leader of the dynamo R&B group Archie Bell & The Drells ("Tighten Up", 1968). The group parted ways before the 1980s , and Bell is now captivating audiences as a solo performer. Soul-stirring left-handed guitarist and vocalist Barbara Lynn (Beaumont, TX) started a rare all-girls band - Bobbie Lynn and Her Idols - in the late 1950s. She toured with renowned soul acts of the '60s after scoring a top R&B and Pop hit, "You'll Lose A Good Thing", and was semi-retired until returning to her hometown and being urged by the late Clifford Antone to record again. The Mighty Hannibal (Atlanta, GA) headlines the rock 'n' soul trinity, bringing old school rhythm & blues with funky/cool showmanship. Perhaps he'll play "Obama Stump" on request. - Danna Williams

The Mighty Hannibal has had one hell of a ride. The Atlanta pimp turned junkie turned preacher sped through L.A. in a car captained by Ray Charles, rode an elephant down Broadway, got his ass kicked by Sam Cooke, and swore Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and James Brown refused to follow him on stage. Texas soul survivors Archie Bell and Barbara Lynn round out this first-class soul revue. – Thomas Fawcett
