Winning awards and recognition not only from local and national publications (“Best Open Air Venue” Austin Chronicle; “Best Place to Hear Live Music” Citysearch), the Backyard is critically acclaimed by the most important of people, the artists themselves. Creating a natural, comfortable and unique environment for the Backyard’s performers has been of utmost importance since the Backyard’s conception. The Backyard is also host to first class private events and benefits, from Seagram’s launch of their new Margaritaville tequila featuring a performance by Jimmy Buffet, to the National Golf Association’s tournament reception and Advanced Micro Devices 25th Anniversary event. Tim O’Connor, owner of Direct Events, announced that the original Backyard is going back to its roots. Tim’s Porch at The Backyard will be a scaled-down version of the original amphitheater. Originally built in 1993, The Backyard was a small, intimate venue which eventually grew into the home we currently know. Creating a natural, comfortable, and unique-to-Austin environment for the Backyard performers and patrons has been of highest importance to Direct Events since the venue's opening. Since its closure, O’Connor has been reconstructing the venue, scaling it back to its original feel and intimate setting. Plenty of on-site parking is available at the best little venue in Texas.
