Little Joy w/ Dead Trees, True Widow

Little Joy is new collaboration between Brazilian singer-guitarist Rodrigo Amarante of Los Hermanos, drummer Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, and Los Angeles-based musician Binki Shapiro. When these three friends got together for a jam session they ended up with an easily accessible pop album that mixes a carefree attitude with south-of-the-border influences and elements of Beach Boys-esque 60's pop. Up-and-comers Dead Trees and True Widow open the joyous show at The Parish on Saturday.

The Parish

The Parish room is one of the key stops for any visitor to Austin. Housing arguably the best indoor sound in all of Texas, The Parish has attracted some of the best acts in the independent music scene, as well as rock legends. Most recently, The Parish was the infamous SXSW venue that hosted the a la carte jam including Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Pete Townshend (Who), Les Claypool (Primus) and Slash (Guns n Roses). For future shows and festival events, check out the Parish calendar.

The Parish room is also a key spot for all your special event needs. Whether it’s a private business party, a product launch, birthday, wedding, or anything else you can imagine, The Parish room is the top spot in Austin for anything that you need. Custom menus, AV set ups and meeting facilities are just a small percentage of what we can make available for anyone looking for a venue in the heart of downtown Austin. Just minutes from the Austin Convention Center, and situated next to the famous Driskill Hotel, The Parish caters to locals and Austin visitors alike.

<comment>Now that he’s free from the clutches of Drew Barrymore, and with nothing but time to kill until The Strokes begin crafting their not-so-anticipated follow-up to First Impressions Of Earth, drummer Fabrizio Moretti finally has free reign to dabble in side projects, like bandmate Albert Hammond Jr. before him. more at austin.decider.com</comment>

<comment>Little Joy is Binki Shapiro, Rodrigo Amarante and Fabrizio Moretti, three friends who dropped their routine at their respective hometowns to make a record in Los Angeles, California. more at www.austin360.com</comment>

<comment>Who would’ve thought that drummer Fabrizio Moretti would concoct the most rewarding Strokes spin-off to date? more at www.austinchronicle.com</comment>

      <comment>from Pitchfork's album review:

"LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy once told me he could imagine in 15 years' time, he might be having a barbecue, and someone would dig out the Strokes' debut from a pile of old CDs and, as the half-forgotten power-pop drifted across the summer lawns, he would realize, "You know what? That was a great little record! A perfect barbecue record!" The modest genius of Little Joy is that now he (or you) doesn't have to wait 15 years."</comment>
