Taking a cue from the slacker drenched vibes of the Dazed and Confused soundtrack, Austin hard rockers Lions exhibit that same raw, youthful and uncut rock. With the cringing screech of singer Matt Drenik and Austin Kalman proving to be one of the nation’s upcoming young guitarists, Lions slam together a booze-soaked, Texas-sized boogie ala ZZ Top and keep it flowing with a Rage Against The Machine-like groove. Lions create a blend of retro riffage, artful noise, melodic interludes, and revolutionary attitude with a live show that has been described as “furious” with “a full-frontal assault” that will leave you “half-deaf and disoriented." Local post-grunge power trio Ume helps open their show at Emo's on Friday.
