Before she began writing and singing her own quirky, intricate pop songs, St. Vincent (Annie Clark) proved her musical prowess as part of Glenn Branca's 100 Guitar Orchestra, as a guitarist and background vocalist for the Polyphonic Spree, and as a member of Sufjan Stevens' touring band. Sounding something like Regina Spektor and Feist, St. Vincent played not only guitar, but also organ, vibes, Moog, bass, and piano on her excellent full-length debut. Her latest effort, 2009's "Actor", is an art-pop masterpiece inspired by late-night viewings of old Disney movies. Pattern is Movement opens her show at the Mohawk.
