Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis, once merely a tart-tongued indie-rock pixie with surprisingly powerful pipes, has evolved into a hip-swaying, soul-tugging chanteuse with a country-gospel heart. Lewis recently released her second solo album 'Acid Tongue', which has been called "a treat from start to finish" and "leagues ahead of anything that she has done in the past." Austin by-way-of Ohio garage rock band the Heartless Bastards open this must-see show at Stubb's on Monday. Fronted by Erika Wennerstrom, who "rocks like Patti Smith fronting Crazy Horse or John Lee Hooker as a girl" the trio's latest album, 2009's 'The Mountain', is arguably their best work to date.

She's so great! And she's with the Heartless Bastards too! They rock! This is going to be a GREAT show. Too bad she doesn't have the Watson twins with her again... but Jenny alone is plenty. Don't miss this show!

For her solo debut—2006’s Rabbit Fur Coat, recorded with The Watson Twins—Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis crafted an introspective, confessional singer-songwriter record that skewed a little bit folk, a little bit country, a little bit gospel, and a good deal removed from the space most of her indie-rock contemporaries currently inhabit. more at austin.decider.com
