The Austin community will need to get red carpet ready as the week culminates in the glamorous Austin Fashion Awards recognizing the best and brightest from the Austin fashion scene Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 5:30 p.m in the Michael & Susan Dell Hall at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Guests can expect innovative design on the catwalk from special guest Johnathan Kayne (Project Runway Season 3) and the UT Fashion Design School, plus, signature cocktails and high voltage live music from bands including Octopus Project, Mike Relm, Alpha Rev, Soldier Thread, and Ume. Local boutiques, salons, hair stylists, makeup artists, models and photographers will all be competing to receive coveted “Best Designer” and “Rising Star” awards. Austin’s first official “Best Designer” will be able to take part in the Designer Launch Program, receiving an in-kind package designed to take their career to the next level.
