Rozone Productions is happy to announce that New Orleans’ first family of funk, the Neville Brothers, will bring their world-class live show to the Austin Music Hall on Friday, July 31st. The four brothers – singer Aaron, keyboardist Art, saxophonist Charles and percussionist Cyril – have played together for four decades and regularly bring their mix of New Orleans sounds to festivals around the world. Their typically intoxicating and spicy stew includes soul, jazz, R&B, pop, funk, rock, reggae, rap, doo-wop, Cajun, Afrobeat, Indian, Creole, Caribbean and almost anything else that suits their mood.
Providing support at this Austin Music Hall performance will be Dr. John and the Lower 9-11 Band. Dr. John is a celebrated New Orleans musician in his own right, with a very rich pedigree. In his early career he was a session musician on records by Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison and Aretha Franklin, just to name a few. His unique blend of funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic swamp jams and voodoo mysticism always makes for an entertaining set.

AA-S Best Bet - The Neville Brothers, Dr. John, the Lower 911: Barring Professor Longhair rising from the dead, you can't get any more N'awlins than this. Must … not … use … gumbo … as … a … description. — Michael Corcoran more at www.austin360.com

This is the kind of double bill you used to find in New Orleans during Jazz Fest on the riverboat, but here in Austin, it’s the rare opportunity to catch two masters from the City That Care Forgot. more at www.austinchronicle.com

Though blues remains a common thread in Dr. John’s career, he’s recently experimented with modern neo-psychedelia (enlisting Paul Weller and Spiritualized’s Jason Pierce for 1998’s Anutha Zone), paid tribute to Duke Ellington (Duke Elegant), and returned to his New Orleans roots (Creole Moon). more at austin.decider.com
