Lucy The Poodle, known for throwing various themed parties around Austin, is proud  to announce her latest event! This will be her first tribute show and she is excited to present "The Music of Pink Floyd" as covered by some of her favorite bands and closest friends. The bands have been carefully selected and the venue, Club De Ville will provide the perfect atmosphere for the psychedelic and epic music of the evening. There are several attractions, so keep reading to find out all about the show.

Starting off the night, at 8pm, there will be a string quartet performing a small selection of Floyd songs. The songs have been arranged by Andrew Noble (Death is Not a Joyride, Infinite Partials, voted best violist in the Austin Music Awards 2007) and Steve Bernal, whose resume includes work with What Made Milwaukee Famous, Bill Callahan, Patrice Pike to name a few.

Lucy has picked some of her favorite local indie acts to cover a diverse representation of the Pink Floyd catalogue. A total of nine bands, on two stages, will cover approximately 20 songs. The chosen songs are being drawn from a wide range of Pink Floyd records, critically acclaimed and record breaking albums such as Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, and more obscure early hits from A Saucerful of Secrets, Meddle and more. There will even be a Syd Barrett tune or two. Performing bands include Cari and Jason (of Belaire), Til We're Blue or Destroy, The Alice Rose, The Hi Tones, The Raven Tree, The Clouds are Ghosts, Blase Faire,  The Noise Revival Orchestra and Leisure Tourniquet (featuring members of My Education, Many Birthdays and The Great Nostalgic).

When people think of Pink Floyd, it is hard not to think of the impressive light shows and distinct visuals that accompanied their live performances. To accompany the bands on the outside stage there will be a light show provided by Sense and Color Promotions as well as projector visuals VJ'ed by Proxemics.

As always Lucy The Poodle's event will be laced with art, interactive party favors, free giveaways and other festivities.  Watch for a Pink Floyd themed symbolism, scavenger hunt, interpretive dance by The Jezebelles, art installations, live painting and more.  Costumes are encouraged!

At the very end, after the last band, we will conclude the evening with a showing of "The Dark Side of Oz" on the rocks outside Club De Ville.
From Wikipedia:
"Dark Side of Oz refers to the pairing of the 1973 Pink Floyd music album The Dark Side of the Moon with the visual portion of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. This produces moments where the film and the album appear to correspond with each other. Band members and others involved in making of the album state that any relationship between the two works of art is merely a coincidence."
Though this has been dismissed by many as a case of synchronicity, there is no doubt that it is still entertaining to watch, and worth checking out if you've never seen it before.
