Comprised primarily of a three Austin singer-songwriters, The Band of Heathens burst onto the music scene with their self titled debut album last year that garnered comparisons to The Band and The Black Crowes. The Heathens' front line is singing songwriters and guitarists Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist. They were named best new band at the Austin Music Awards in '07, acclaimed for combining rock, gospel, blues, and soul through songwriters' sensibilities. The band plays about 250 shows a year, and will be at Antone's on Saturday with Drew Smith's Lonely Choir.
