Hello Birdie: gala and silent art auction to benefit local nonprofit

UpLift Austin is hosting the 6th Annual Hello Birdie: a gala and silent art auction where over 35 bird-inspired art pieces created by local architects and designers will be sold. Cohosted by LifeWorks Executives and Professionals and Big Red Sun, Hello Birdie will include delicious food, drinks, music and activities that showcase UpLift Austin's mission to spread the message about environmental sustainability through design to at-risk youth through our day program in public high schools. The event takes place on Oct. 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Big Red Sun, 1102 E Cesar Chavez St. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased at http://www.upliftaustin.org/Tickets.php.

Over it's short year-long lifetime, UpLift has hosted one full summer program and is currently running programs in both Garza Independence and KIPP Austin Collegiat high schools, including 5 individual classes and over 100 students. By connecting kids with green professionals from the community, UpLift Austin hopes to revitalize communities and also educate youth about opportunities in "green" career fields and sustainable living practices.
