Benefit Concert for the Sergio Machado Scholarship fund.

The Sergio Machado Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 to provide students the same opportunity to come to Southwestern University that Sergio had. He was killed in a car accident in Mozambique last year and a group of his close friends and Southwestern Alumni are hosting a fundraising event to raise money for a scholarship in his honor. The scholarship will help bring international students, like Sergio, to study in Texas.Sergio was a talented musician and could produce soulful, multilingual music inspired by his African heritage. The best way for us to honor his life is to come together with a dozen local bands and half a dozen variety acts for an all day mini music festival.We have the perfect location - The Pine Street Station (1101 E. 5th Street). This venue was host to Kanye West during last year's SXSW and will feature both indoor and outdoor music stages. Drinks provided by local breweries. Doors open at 2PM and the event will last until 12AM. Our feature headliner will be the Bright Light Social Hour, winners of ACL's Sound and Jury Finals(Statesman Article) . Other bands include The Bus Stop Stallions, DJ Orion, and Western Ghost House. We will also feature the Black Widow Burlesque, Texcentric Show, Comedian Brian Gutman, and the Jezebelles Go-Go Dancers.Tickets are $10 at the door or FREE with minimum $7 donation at www.ohsnapbenefit.com - Artists
