Dr. Dog has been creating music in various incarnations in their hometown of Philadelphia for nearly ten years now. From the humble beginnings of The Psychedelic Swamp, a concept album realized in the damp ruin of a flooded basement, through the critically acclaimed Easy Beat (2005), We All Belong (2007), and Fate (2008), the band has cultivated a strong national following through their energetic live shows. Their sound is an infectious mixture of psych-pop and Beach Boys-style three part harmonies layered over bouncy rock songs. They have six albums to their credit, and they have performed at just about every major music festival in the U.S. Their music is incredibly infectious, equal parts pop and psychedelic rock.

John McCauley recorded Deer Tick's debut War Elephant at age 19, performing every instrument on the album. It was originally released in 2007 to much critical acclaim from The New York Times, Brooklyn Vegan, Spin, and many others. In 2009, after touring the U.S., appearing at SXSW, and developing into a quartet with three members singing and writing, Deer Tick released their highly anticipated second full-length album Born On Flag Day. Their sound is described as "rambling country-rock with desperate lyrics delivered straight from the bottom of the bottle."
