C3 Presents: Auto Body w/ Freshmillions, DJ Gmau

Home is where the facemelt is....

The electric, electronic dance duo Auto Body recently moved it's headquarters to New York City, but its birthplace will always be Austin's steamy underground houses of ROCK. On Saturday, July 24th, 2010 Felix and Tibaut will make a triumphant return home for a huge show at The ND courtesy of C3 Presents and Do512.com. Joining Hurricane Felix and Disco Jesus will be the mighty men of Austin's own Freshmillions, and 4-on-the-floor stalwart, DJ gmau.

  if you are new here, Auto Body is an electronic dance duo comprised of Felix Moreno (of the Chicago-based Future Rock) on synthesizer and bass, with Austin's own Tibaut Bowman (DJ Thibault) on vocals and samplers. Armed with a war chest of synthesizers, samplers, and a bass guitar, they create a familiar indie-electro sound influenced by the likes of Daft Punk, Ghostland Observatory, and MSTRKRFT. Their live performances are nothing short of electronic sensory overload, typically featuring an explosive light show that is unlike anything else Austin has to offer.

Fresh Millions is a live electronic band from right here in the ATX. After much time spent at the drawing board, the funk-infused dance rock trio released their self-titled debut album earlier this year via Insect Records. Using an animated mix of computers, synthesizers, and live instruments, Fresh Millions blends disco-era bass lines and electro-era pop with heavy, danceable beats. The band made the excellent choice of luring in Bryan Richie of The Sword to handle production on their album, making it the metal head's first foray into electronic music.

Their sound (and highly entertaining live show) has drawn comparisons to the likes of Passion Pit and Ratatat. The Austin Chronicle said "Imagine if you cut out all of MGMT's psychedelic tangents and Ratatat reassembled them. That's a decent starting point for Fresh Millions. The local daft punks craft collage-rock, layering live instrumentals over snippets from old jazz records."
