Do512 - What to do in Austin

There is no doubt that Grupo Fantasma has helped to define the last decade of the Austin music scene while simultaneously carving out a piece of their own global history.  From humble beginnings of a bi-monthly gig at the now defunct Empanada Parlor to rocking a packed bull ring in South France, they’ve served as Prince’s backing band and they’ve served their country on two musical tours of Iraq.  They’ve played everywhere from the sweatiest punk clubs to the most lavish festivals in the world, been nominated for a Grammy, called the “next generation of latin music” by the Washington Post and dubbed “one of the sickest live bands ever” by Philadelphia Weekly.  Even Dead Milkmen frontman Rodney Anonymous noted on his blog that "You haven't lived until you've seen these guys come out of a Tex-Mex drum solo into Led Zeppelin's Moby Dick.”

But as we all know (accolades aside) there’s nothing better than an old school, two set style throw-down in Austin, Texas!  The video projector will be playing some classic moments in Fantasma history and there’s bound to be some special guests from the past and present.  DJ Chicken George will fill up the breaks with his ever pleasing sonic endeavors.
