Present: Portugal. the Man

Formed in Wasilla, AK, Portugal. The Man (yes, there's a period in the middle of their name) grew out of the ashes of Anatomy of a Ghost, a post-hardcore band whose vocalist and guitarist -- Gourley and Zach Carothers, respectively -- opted to continue working together. Rounding out the new band's lineup was keyboardist/singer Wes Hubbard, and the trio eventually relocated from Alaska to Portland, OR. Since the release of the band's debut album Waiter: "You Vultures!" in 2006 Portugal have released an album a year, most times with an EP in between releases. The band grabbed national attention with their sophomore album Church Mouth, whose aggressive sound bore traces of Led Zeppelin and Jane's Addiction. For the band's fourth studio album The Satanic Satanist, they worked with Paul Q. Kolderie, whose previous clients include both the Pixies and Radiohead. Portugal. The Man will be making their second appearance at Bonnaroo this Summer.
