Moonface, the primary recording project of Spencer Krug (formerly of Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes and Wolf Parade), will release its first full-length album on August 2nd. Last year Jagjaguwar released a twenty-minute marimba piece by Spencer Krug under the moniker "Moonface." It was called the Dreamland EP: marimba and shit-drums, and it was sold as a 12" and under a pay-what-you-want system via the interactive Moonface site in which fans could contribute and read dream submissions. Jagjaguwar will release Moonface's first full record, Organ Music not Vibraphone like I'd Hoped, on August 2nd, 2011.
Spencer Krug has also performed with other Canadian bands including Swan Lake, Frog Eyes, Fifths of Seven, and ska band the Two Tonne Bowlers, playing various instruments. His involvement in many musical acts has garnered him a noticeably high output of work, being credited on several releases a year. While his distinctive voice and singing style have drawn equal parts praise and derision, his songwriting abilities have been much-lauded in the music press, and he has been called "arguably the most talented songwriter of this generation."

Spencer Krug has so much musical output in so many different bands that he makes Jack White look lazy. In anticipation of this show from his solo project Moonface, I look back at my four favorite albums in his discography on my Trinity Stardust blog.
