Emo's East Grand Opening with Butthole Surfers, 400 Blows, Bodytronix

The grand opening of Emo’s East will be celebrated with a major part of Austin music history: The Butthole Surfers.  The notorious drumset burning, megaphone wielding group who inspired the Flaming Lips are warming up the stage of Emo’s East on Sunday, Sept. 11th.  The last time we saw them was at the Scoot Inn was Halloween of last year, and if you missed that show, here’s you chance to catch their set, which is something you need to see.  Seriously.

Emo’s is also bringing in 400 Blows, heavy metal/hardcore group from L.A.  I’ve heard their shows are “fierce,” which makes me think of things like, mosh pits, crowd surfing, and lighting instruments on fire.  I can only hope for all of these things.  Opening the show will be Austin’s own Bodytronix!

Owner, Frank Hendrix, invites Austin concert-goers to see the state of the art room in action for the first time. 

“Emo’s East started out as a dream to compete with the top live music venues in the country,” said Hendrix.  “Now over a year later, we are opening doors to a room that is 100% designed for live music. We are raising the bar to a live music experience in Austin.” 

Emo’s East will feature a 1700 capacity room with a 40ft vaulted ceiling. Complimented by a 35ft wide stage pumping glorious sound out of a D&B Q-Line main array sound system.
