Whalers is an Austin-based band on the rise. This quintet creates confident rock and roll music with catchy melodies and easy-going pop hooks that have a universal appeal. The band's deut EP "How The Ship Goes Down" arrived in November of 2010, mixed by My Morning Jacket’s sound engineer Kevin Ratterman and mastered at Jim Public Hi-Fi studio. The self-released album received critical praise from a number of outlets, and Whalers quickly garnered citywide recognition as one of the premiere upcoming acts. The band played twelve shows during SXSW 2011, opening for the likes Black & White Years, Sunset, and TV Torso, then were invited to play a Summer residency at Lamberts and a session with Daytrotter. The band consists of Dan Martin and Kyle Rother on guitars, Amir Mozafari on bass, Milos Bertram on drums, and Gus Smalley on vocals.
