After nearly 20 years of touring and a string of successful records that stretches into the double digits, 37-year-old Garrett Dutton, aka G. Love, is still creating. In fact, 2011 saw the release of a new album in # 'Fixin' To Die.' The Special Sauce is his blues-rooted, alt-hip-hop backing band, rounded out by upright bass player Timo Shanko, drummer Jeffrey "Houseman" Clemens, organist/keyboardist Mark Boyce, with G. Love on vocals, guitar and harmonica.

It has been almost 15 years since G. Love and the Special Sauce released their self-titled debut album, becoming a hit with the party crowd with their single "Cold Beverage." The Philadelphia outfit have since released eight more albums incorporating everything from hip-hip, funk, psychedelia, blues, and soul in equal measure, fitting into a genre of their own while touring the world many times over. It's a simple recipe that has kept them popular over the years: start with a slow, groovy bass line, add a simple, steady drum beat, and top it off with G. Love's unmistakable lyrical flow.
