Unlike other ‘80s satano-slashers that only play at being sexist and gratuitously savage, THE INCUBUS genuinely walks the walk. Filmmaker Hough was already a veteran traumatizer after 1973’s THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE, but this movie chews a hole into horror’s underbelly and suckles on its small intestine. Venerable actor/director John Cassavetes shook off some of his hard-earned credibility to star in this acutely harsh tale of a vicious demon that kills women using the most vile weapon on earth: a WIENER. Cassavetes plays a concerned doctor who spends entire scenes hollering about the victims’ ruptured uteri. Jeesh, John...it’s already difficult enough to be a lady in this movie without that kind of low class talk. Come to think of it, this Canadian shockblast is probably the most misogynistic film in Terror Tuesday history. Whooops.
