CAPCITYKIDS 5th ANNUAL CONCERT AT ANTONE’S
CapCityKids: Austin volunteer 501(c)(3) that provides assistance for homeless school children in Austin’s school system
CELEBRATION AND FUNDRAISER: Featuring Austin’s favorite food, music, and Antone’s hospitality. Find out about CapCityKids important mission and ways that you can help provide homeless children the most important tools they can have for a better life through education.
Hosted by Jeff Blake with a lineup live music from Austin favorites including the Barton Hills Elementary Choir, Golden Graces of Lanier High and the Alma Allstars and featuring headliners Candace Bellamy, Patricia Vonne, Darden Smith and David Grissom.
CapCityKids (The Capital City Fund for Education) has provided over $650,000 and direct services for educational assistance to Austin’s homeless students over the last 6 years. It is an all-volunteer organization with no overhead; its donations go directly to educational supplements for the kids. During the 2011-2012 school year, CapCityKids funded over $150,000 in a grant programs for tutors at Austin’s homeless shelters and a math specialist at Matthews Elementary, where a large number of homeless students attend. They also funded a successful pilot program which included 12 interns from the UT’s School Of Social Work to provide outreach support and individual and group counselling to homeless and at-risk students. In addition, CapCityKids has funded almost $10,000.00 yearly for transportation, school supplies, activity fees and other support services.
