Shiny Empire is a rock band formed in 2010 by Justin Marler. Shiny Empire's sound has developed out of Marler's unusual musical past which includes being a founding member of the doom metal band Sleep during an epic era centered around the California musical mecca, 924 Gilman Street. Marler left the epicenter of punk rock, pop punk, hardcore punk, heavy metal, grindcore, ska punk and industrial music to become a fully tonsured monk - and perhaps, truly punk rock. Seven years later, Marler emerged from the monastery to form rock band The Sabians with Sleep's Chris Haikus. In 2005, The Sabians disbanded when Marler relocated to Austin, Texas.

Drawing from this varied background and inspired by Austin's music scene, Marler began writing songs again. Finding the right lead guitarist wasn't happening, so Marler decided to integrate keyboards into the sound. Shiny Empire chanced upon Phil Davies and his keytar in Summer of 2011. A keytar is the infamous 80's instrument which mashes a keyboard and guitar into one crazy synth machine. Around the same time Jaime Cano, formerly of The Always Aready, became the band's drummer, and John Bello of Bevo signed on as bass player. At the end of 2011, fourth generation trumpeter Addison Story joined to finish out the sound. This stellar combination resulted in punk informed, multilayered, multi-instrumental power pop. Yeah!

Influenced by the sounds and colors of Austin Texas, AquaJones delivers a rich and eclectic style of rock composed by a diverse group of four. The band released their first EP in 2011 titled “Weatherman” and followed up with a West Coast tour the same year, closing at West Hollywood’s famous Wiskey-A-Go-Go. The band comprised of vocalist and custom van fabricator, Cody Rodriguez and A/C wizard and guitarist Brent Merchant replaced two members early this year in bassist and chemical engineer student Corey Isaacs, and drummer Alfredo "G" Rios.

The combination has amassed fans from eclectic beginnings. Ambient borders surround a distinct low-end groove. The magnetic flow from the vocals create warm melodies on top of head bobbing rhythm from the drums. Influences individually are stark; distant. But together, the band melds together a bold sound entirely their own.

For singer, songwriter and guitar player Tom Melancon, a career in music is not just an ambition and even more than a passion. Ultimately, it’s his mission in life, and one for which he has the talent, gumption, determination and savvy to follow to fulfillment.

He has already begun making a name and an impact in Austin, Texas as a busy acoustic performer at a number of venues with a variety of accompanists. With a potent, full and flexible tenor voice and original songs that rock with pop hooks on the uptempo side and woo and charm in his subtler moments, all the while brimming with emotive and literate lyricism, he has an innate knack for capturing and charming the ears of listeners from a wide swath of stylistic tastes.
