Exquisitely Cutting Edge.

Austin Fashion Week is set up as a series of events hosted primarily at participating retail and salon locations dotted throughout the city. Curated fashion designers from the state of Texas will set up showcases within each participating retail and salon location. These designers will work through a process to determine the best and brightest the state has to offer. The vetting committee looks for established designers, up and comers, and those just launching their first lines. We are interested in clothing, accessories, jewelry, even home accessories and furniture. In 2010, approximately 125 events occurred during Austin Fashion Week inside the participating retail and salon locations.

Austin Fashion Week also features statewide Photographers, Hair Stylists, Makeup Artists and Models. This group will be heavily featured through mash up teams at the 2011 Austin Fashion Week Kickoff Event. Participants in these categories will show over-the-top runway looks to a packed audience. The teams will also submit a gallery piece that will be featured on FashionWeekAustin.com and available for voting.

Also during Austin Fashion Week, participants are competing for the Austin Fashion Awards. There are two major categories:

1) People’s Choice Awards: All participants are eligible to win People’s Choice Awards. The general public may vote online in categories like “Best Retail Store,” “Best Overall Designer” and more. The winners will be crowned with “Golden Boots” at the Austin Fashion Awards.

2) Industry Choice Awards: A hybrid of the past Critic and Peer Choice Awards, the Industry Choice Awards are new for Austin Fashion Week 2011. Those working in the Austin fashion industry will be asked to vote for the most deserving candidates in the city.

We are also incredibly excited to announce that our non-profit partners for 2011 are once again Austin Involved and Dress For Success.

Austin Involved is an organization dedicated to helping young people determine how best to spend their philanthropic dollars and time. Every dollar raised for Austin Involved passes through to another deserving local charity. Austin Involved is designed to give people an opportunity to volunteer their time with multiple organizations on a monthly basis in a casual, social setting.

Dress For Success promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
