Local heroes Crooks just released their new album ‘The Rain Will Come,’ produced by Danny Reisch (Okkervil River, White Denim, Shearwater), and featuring guest appearances by Grammy-winning accordion legend Flaco Jimenez of the Texas Tornadoes. Crooks are breathing new life into Austin’s country scene by playing it their way - “stripped of its crossover pop sheen and returned to its hard-drinkin’, rough-and-tumble roots” (The Onion AV Club). The Austin American-Statesman says their sound “exemplifies the genre at its hard-drinking, windswept best. It’s country from the Hank Williams Sr. school — damaged, dusty and bleary-eyed.” In the last few months, Crooks have played Fun Fun Fun Fest, shared the stage with Deer Tick and Gary Clark Jr., were chosen as a “Best New Local Act,” by the Austin Chronicle Critics' Poll, and were heralded by KUT’s David Brown as his pick for “Austin artist most likely to score big in 2012.”  Here’s what sets Crooks’ brand of country apart: there’s no hokey-ness involved. Comparing Crooks’ country to Nashville radio country is like comparing Cormac McCarthy to ‘Walker, Texas Ranger.’ As Daytrotter described their sound, “There’s just that threat in the air, as if everything might turn purple and rough any second, should someone breathe on someone else incorrectly.” As My Old Kentucky Blog put it, “these boys might want to look into losing their day jobs.” Here’s hopin’.

The Couch is a hard rocking, hard blues/psych act outta San Marcos/Austin , TX. Members. They hoot n' holler intriguing melodies over ass crackin' grooves and love-making-mother-pleasing passion. Check their live show out and witness the beauty that is a Couch show or download their album at www.mediafire.com/thecouchmusic

Frank Smith is a band, not a man, but you'll remember his name. Aaron Sinclair and the other real men behind Frank Smith turn beautifully haunting lyrics and layers of various instruments into sof-rock music that won't be wasy to get out of your head.
