Featuring Alpha Rev - KLRU Studio 6A
AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) is proud to announce its first annual “Austin Originals” Benefit Concert & Live Taping, featuring Alpha Rev. The show will be held on Friday, September 28th at the original home of the Austin City Limits, KLRU Studio 6A. All proceeds will benefit the Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) – an “Austin Original” non-profit organization dedicated to providing expert mental health care for children and their families for more than 60 years.
Alpha Rev - Half Greek, half Latin, the words pulled together loosely mean “The beginning of something new.” At least that’s how lead singer Casey McPherson describes the name of the group he fronts. It’s also an apt description of the music on Alpha Rev’s new EP, “City Farm: Roots.” McPherson founded Alpha Rev in Austin, TX in 2005. The band released its debut album, “The Greatest Thing I’ve Ever Learned,” in 2007. With the release of its sophomore album, 2010’s “New Morning,” Alpha Rev left its halcyon indie days behind, but not its independent spirit.
McPherson also serves as honorary chair at the event for his personal dedication to understanding and strengthening awareness for Mental Health care. The local alt-rock group will perform original sets to include a special, unplugged performance to be filmed live.
The “Austin Originals” event will also feature a live auction with many packaged items, including passes to the sold out Austin City Limits Music Festival. Ticket price includes open bar with premium, signature cocktails provided by Tito's Handmade Vodka and Republic Tequila. Food will also be provided throughout the evening by Whole Foods Market Catering.
ACGC provides individual, family, and group therapy to children and their families throughout Central Texas, as well as in-depth psychological assessments, parent education and training for mental health care professionals. ACGC helps more than 3,000 children every year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay and has helped more than 130,000 children and families since the Center was founded in 1951.
