7th Annual Chili Cold Blood Chili Cook-Off in memory of Nick Curran

Local artist Chili Cold Blood is proud to present the Chili Cold Blood Chili Cook-Off at The White Horse on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm. All proceeds for the event will be collected in memory of Nick Curran, an Austin-based musician who influenced countless artists and passed away from cancer on October 6, 2012, and donated to an Austin-based NPO that supports musicians through access to affordable health care (to be officially announced on February 9, 2013).

The Chili Cold Blood Chili Cook-Off will also serve as a drive for travel-sized hygiene items including soap, shampoo and toothbrushes in support of Front Steps and ARCH (Austin Research Center for the Homeless). For every item donated, guests will receive one chili tasting ticket (tickets also available for purchase: $1/ticket or $5 for 6 tickets). A limited-edition re-pressing of Chili Cold Blood’s first album, Rock n Roll Motherfucker featuring Nick Curran, will be available for the occasion. Only 100 copies will be made and all proceeds will be donated to an Austin-based NPO that supports musicians through access to affordable health care (to be announced on February 9, 2013).

Prizes will be rewarded for first, second, and third place. The contest is limited to the first 20 applicants. Contest information and submission forms are available online. Performances from Chili Cold Blood, Woodboss and The Sixth Street Cowboy Sam Olivo will begin at 5pm. Winners for the chili cook-off will be announced at 8pm. A suggested donation of $10 is encouraged for the event - all proceeds will be donated to the local npo in support of Ausitn Musicians' access to affordable health care in memory of Nick Curran. The White Horse is located at 500 Comal.
