Ah, Austin’s ye olde faire is fast approaching. Time to launder your kilts and dust off your faerie wings, theSherwood Forest Faire is opening in a few short weeks. Open weekends from Feb. 9 – Mar. 31, the Sherwood Forest Faire will have Music & Entertainment, a MarketplaceArchery Contests, jousting, juggling, magic, Robin Hood Theatre, sword fighting, puppetry and a whole lot more.

The faire will be open from 10 am til dusk every Saturday and Sunday, with a special 3-day weekend during Spring Break on Mar. 15 – 17. Tickets are $16 for 13 and up, and ages 6 – 12 are $8.50 for daily admission. You can camp for the weekend at the faire for $10 per adult and $5 per youth. Season Passes are available for $89/adult and $59/youth. Live music will range from Celtic jam sessions to gypsy serenades, from bagpipes to Klezmer classics, and are performed throughout the entire day. Other entertainment will include a variety of family-friendly feats such as puppet shows and circus-type acts in Sherwood’s Children’s Area to keep the kids amused. The full 2013 lineup has not been announced yet, but we will keep you updated on the goods. We do know there will be over 40 stage acts to keep you and the kiddos entertained.

Besides Renaissance-inspired games and competition, over 130 merchants of the olde world will gather with their handcrafted goods. You can find the finest in accessories, armour, clothing, jewelry, apothecary goods, metalwork and glasswork at the faire.

In between shopping and watching interesting performances, the family can enjoy fun rides, games and great food. Little ones will ooh and ahh at the full contact jousting while you kick back some fish ‘n chips and wash it down with some mead.

There is a ton of stuff to do at the faire and there is never a dull moment! Dress up, get into character and brush up on the language of yore. We will keep you posted about any announcements!
