Made up of Shana Merlin (Girls, Girls, Girls) and Shannon McCormick (Salvage Vanguard Theatre), Get Up never fails to entertain, regardless of the constitution of the crowd. Those that prefer their comedy broad and physical don’t always pick up on the subtly placed, New York Times-inspired commentary that Get Up somehow spins into every show, but there is little doubt that everyone leaves a Get Up show with their funny bone rocked. Add to the equation that Get Up is improvising that stuff (and that even those comedians with the highest improv batting averages will occasionally whiff), and the exceptional nature of Get Up’s talent becomes even more apparent.
