I’d like to talk about how ladies in the 1980s were very different than the ladies of today, but I’m not sure if those stereotypes are true anymore. Leg warmers are back on the shelves at the Gap, and have you ever been anywhere near the Beauty Bar? I think everyone there takes their fashion cues from the video for Blondie’s RAPTURE. So I guess the ladies of today aren’t that different from the ladies of the 80s after all, but that’s just more reason to pay our respects to the legends that started it all. Thank you, Cyndi Lauper, for showing us that it would be okay to show our TRUE COLORS. Thank you, Madonna, for telling us what it feels like to be touched for the very first time. Thank you Pat Benatar and Olivia Newton-John. This show is for all of you.

We ran a couple of preview shows of LADIES OF THE 80s: VOLUME 2 at the Village over the summer, and if you made it out to one of those then you’ve got some idea about what you can expect. We’ll still have Pat Benatar and Madonna and Paula Abdul and all of their friends that we couldn’t fit into the first LADIES OF THE 80s Sing-Along. But we’ve added to the show this time, too, with 6 new videos that weren’t in the original cut of Volume 2. So technically I guess that makes this LADIES OF THE 80s: VOLUME 2.5, but we’re just going to let that slide, because decimals are confusing. If you didn’t make it out to the shows at the Village, then oh my god you’re in for some awesome new times. We’ll have rainbows flying around the theater for Cyndi Lauper’s TRUE COLORS. And when the Weather Sisters start singing IT’S RAINING MEN? It will literally rain men inside the Alamo Ritz. Yes, literally. (Henri)
