Angela Shelf Medearis, "The Kitchen Diva," will share recipes from her new work, "The Kitchen Diva's Diabetic Cookbook."  Come celebrate Juneteenth in a healthy way, when The Kitchen Diva serves tasty tidbits using watermelon (an 'official' food of the Juneteenth holiday!), black-eyed peas, and sweet potatoes.  Black-eyed peas and sweet potatoes were the basis for many of the innovations developed by the Museum's namesake, George Washington Carver!  Whole Foods Market is a generous supproter of this culinary event.

 

FACT:  20 million people in the United States suffer diabetes, and it's estimated that an additional 5.5 million have the disease but are undiagnosed.  Chances are that you know someone affected by this condition...
