San Antonio pop experimentalists Buttercup used to be impossible to pin down. Not so much aesthetically, as its random sampling of late-’60s psychedelia and paisley-flecked jangle of ’80s college rock has been fairly consistent, but the band was once more famous for breaking up its shows with bizarre performance-art stunts than its music—though it’s tried rectifying that with its prolific output over the last couple of years. more at austin.decider.com
