The American Analog Set and Bedhead remain mothballed, but local peer Monroe Mustang canters quietly back for a two-off reunion following new Jagjaguar download Monroe Mustang, the Imaginary Band, Regretfully Declines. Look soon for Jag’s reissuing of the Mustang’s last two recordings of plain sweeping themes for the thoughtfully softcore. Denton’s Audrey Lapraik opens Saturday (9pm) with Parisian offshoot of Aussie indies Gersey – Bombazine Black – headlining. Sunday at the Scoot, Ryan Anderson opens at 7pm, followed on the hour by the Monroe boys and Bombazine, respectively. – Raoul Hernandez

Cold-blooded and precise, Illmatic’s draw stands today as MC mastery: head-banging beats from DJ Premier, Pete Rock and Large Professor cuing hard-bodied rhymes spun with Eminem-influencing complexity. The game immediately belonged to the Little Homey.
