3 66 104088 Evil Dead, The Musical Evil Dead, The Musical makes its Central Texas premiere this October at Salvage Vanguard Theatre in Austin. About the Show: With the approval of film director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell, a musical version of the film Evil Dead was staged. The musical takes creative liberty with the plot line of the cult film trilogy, mixing together the characters and concepts of all three. The original production enjoyed a successful run in Toronto and Montreal. The show went on to gain favorable responses from both critics and audiences during its 2006-2007 off-Broadway run. The musical has gone on to subsequent performances in Louisville, KY, Seoul, Korea, and Tokyo, Japan. When: October 9-31. Bruce Campbell is the greatest talent to ever grace the silver screen, Sam Raimi is EVIL DEAD, and EVIL DEAD is ARMY OF DARKNESS. Remember how fun it was when you first tried to explain the concept of the EVIL DEAD trilogy to your unsuspecting “friends”? “Well, see, there’s this guy who goes to a cabin a couple of times, and then his friends or girlfriend gets possessed by demons and he has to fight them, so he chops off his hand (oh, it had gone bad, so it’s okay), and then he puts a chainsaw on the stump and he holds a shotgun in the other hand and then he goes back in time to the Middle Ages where he has to fight an entire army of the undead. And the whole time he says all the coolest one-liners ever.” Well, your so-called friends may have looked at you with blank stares, but these Quote-Along screenings will be your mecca. I've never even liked golf all that much, but I definitely would have learned if I could have had a summer like this. Not only do you get to hook up with the rich hot girl who's visiting from New York, but you get to be friends with Chevy Chase back when he was an endearing sarcastic blowhard, you get to hang out with Bill Murray, and you get to win a college scholarship with the help of explosions! Come on! So maybe working at a real country club isn't like that at all, but it sure should be. CADDYSHACK shows us everything that an 80s movie can be, complete with the old blowhard who doesn't like the kids and misfits who just want to have fun, the random shots of boobs when you least expect them, and, of course, quotable line after quotable line. So it's got that going for it, which is nice. And we'll make it even nicer by subtitling all of our favorite lines, bringing in special props, and starting the whole shebang with a bit of a putting competition. Leslie Muchler investigates consumer desire and organization through digital drawing and collage. Using catalogue glossies from Crate & Barrel, Ikea, Pottery Barn, and others, she creates a, “hybrid-form of organization that speaks about the many tastes and design influences surrounding our consumer culture.”  The repetition, warping, and stretching of these ready made forms into landscapes and architecture creates the joining of contrasts. “I am designing hybrid storage systems- modular pieces that grow in response to collection, yet strive to minimize such expansion.
