Following successful runs in Boston, Seattle, and Chicago, this loose-limbed slice of comedy vérité comes to the Hideout Theatre courtesy of the Austin Improv Collective’s Asaf Ronen, who oversaw the New York version. Ronen is joined here by a selection of Austin’s top performers and storytellers, who—while playing an actual poker game where real money is bet and real beer is quaffed—will put all their cards on the table, literally and metaphorically, while trying to one-up each other with the sort of obscene anecdotes men (and certain special women) only unleash in private company. Anteing up real dollars not only makes the whole thing more exciting, it also keeps the performers on their toes: What better way to distract from the fact that you’re bluffing than with the greatest “I had to take a shit” story ever told?
The next installment of Sickest F*ing Stories will take place on Thursday, November 8th at 9pm at The Hideout (617 Congress Avenue b/w 6th & 7th streets). Joining Asaf Ronen at the table will be Peter Elliott (Karaoke Apocalypse), Mark Majcher (Improv For Evil), Tim Murphy (The Monday Night Soul Shakedown, KAOS 95.9fm), and Jessica Shipley (ex-rollergirl).
