As Cities Burn announced plans to break up last year, though opted to stay together due to support from fans. Apparently in it for the long haul once more, the post-hardcore Christian punk band is out now behind this year's deceptively catchy Come Now Sleep. Openers The Photo Atlas traffic in the kind of high-energy, bass-driven post-punk that was all the rage two minutes (and two decades) ago. Nonetheless, as musical trends go, post-punk is a welcome return, and this year's No, Not Me, Never stands out as a gem alongside releases from contemporaries like Thunderbirds Are Now! and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Firs saw Pinata Protest in the loft of In the Flesh Tattoo Studio several months ago. When I heard this punk band had an accordian player, I had to see them. I thought what a combination. To my surprise, I really liked them. They have high energy and in your face lyrics. I bought their CD that night Alvaro. A must see band for the experience.
