As Cities Burn announced plans to break up last year, though opted to stay together due to support from fans. Apparently in it for the long haul once more, the post-hardcore Christian punk band is out now behind this year’s deceptively catchy Come Now Sleep. Openers The Photo Atlas traffic in the kind of high-energy, bass-driven post-punk that was all the rage two minutes (and two decades) ago. Nonetheless, as musical trends go, post-punk is a welcome return, and this year’s No, Not Me, Never stands out as a gem alongside releases from contemporaries like Thunderbirds Are Now! and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Also playing: Dear And The Headlights,Oceans Firing.

When guitarist-vocalist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper left Taking Back Sunday and formed Straylight Run in 2003, they found themselves still contractually bound to Victory Records, even though their moody, piano-laced power-pop had nothing in common with their old band. A full-length and an EP later, Straylight Run was probably quite happy to be on its own, and the band has since signed with Universal’s Republic imprint for this year’s The Needles, The Space. Also on the bill is The Color Fred, the atrociously named and Weezer-addled new project from another Taking Back Sunday alum, Fred Mascherino. Also playing: Dear And The Headlights, Cassin.
