Gallows is a British band that's made waves since the Epitaph reissue of its 2006 debut, Orchestra of Wolves. The group's frontman, Frank Carter, a dead ringer for a young, tattooed Johnny Rotten, recently vowed that the band would break up after fulfilling its new multimillion-dollar deal with Warner Bros., and his fatalism comes across in Orchestra's vicious mix of Refused's progressive hardcore and the punk-rock action of Hot Snakes. The name Cancer Bats combines two frightful scourges that normally don't mix, and the same could be said of the Toronto band's hybrid of punk and southern metal. Given the rabid fanbases that can't get enough of either genre, it's on wonder Cancer Bats' stock is on the rise since the release of its 2006 debut, Birthing the Giant.

This is the prettiest of pretty psych. In their own words, “Heavy with poetry and mood, cinematic backdrops of intelligent musical arrangements. Labored of the love of late night movies that changed your life forever caught alone in one endless summer, with picnics in graveyards, with guitars and tambourines. Fields of red flowers, owls at night, and black and white photographs are comfort spots through our artistic journey”.
