Summer 2001, Coney Island. I’m standing front and center, sweating profusely under the oppressive July sun as Les Savy Fav commands the stage. Singer Tim Harrington is wearing flimsy, red jogging shorts, then he’s wearing only a small white towel. He runs off stage in the towel, through the crowd, right toward the Cyclone, and gets in line. The other band members look at one another and end the song.more at austinchronicle.com

Jason Isbell hit the ground running when he joined Drive-By Truckers in 2001, ushering in a streak of brilliance unbroken
through 2006's A Blessing And A Curse. But Isbell stunned many last year with the abrupt announcement that he'd be quitting the group to put more effort into his imminent solo release, Sirens Of The Ditch—though fans of Isbell's scant-yet-stunning contribution to the Truckers' oeuvre knew that his decision was far from career suicide. Instead, Sirens cements Isbell's stature as a gritty, truth-slinging troubadour yearning to push the Southern-rock envelope while hewing close to his Alabama roots. Opener Will Hoge's recent Draw The
Curtains is chock-full of rock rich in the American tradition of
sweat-drying blue-eyed soul and whiskey-gulping smoky bar-dancin'.
Whether or not that's your music genre of choice, Hoge's songs are a fuckload more legitimate than anything that's ever come out of Taylor Hicks' mouth.

Veteran Austin space-rockers Experimental Aircraft like to take their time with everything, whether it's the slow build of shimmering guitar textures that drape Rachel Staggs' laconic, airy
vocals or the recording of a new CD. Third Transmission: Meet Me On
Echo Echo Terrace, the band's third outing since forming nearly a decade ago, has been on the back burner for a while now as Staggs
dabbled in other projects (she also performs solo and in the similarly breathy All In The Golden Afternoon), but fortunately, shoegaze this
effortlessly immersive never goes out of style. The band builds
anticipation for its February release here with an assist from Red Monroe, a breakout Dallas act whose 2007 sophomore effort ¡Policia¡ ¡Policia! has earned unanimous praise from the DFW press, welding art-rock curveballs, bouncy indie-punk, and brazen Clash stomp into
one of the most head-turning Texas albums of last year. Opening: AUX,
Calhoun.

PSYCHOTROPIC w/ live music by Herald & Mod, DJs Scorpio & Whiplash @ Club de Ville
PSYCHOTROPIC: new & classic psychedelic tonite at Club de Ville. Live music by Herald & Mod.
Posted 3 days ago.Herald & Mod have taken the time out of their busy schedule hanging with Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson to grace the stages of PSYCHOTROPIC Wednesday, September 3rd. This is the prettiest of pretty psych. In their own words, “Heavy with poetry and mood, cinematic backdrops of intelligent musical arrangements. Labored of the love of late night movies that changed your life forever caught alone in one endless summer, with picnics in graveyards, with guitars and tambourines. Fields of red flowers, owls at night, and black and white photographs are comfort spots through our artistic journey”.
Live music starts at 10:00pm.
Preceded and followed by DJs Scorpio & Whiplash.
No cover.
9pm-2am.
21+
Also, the ongoing Beers For Gears Wednesday at Club de Ville allows you to ride anything with two wheels and no motor and receive either a $3 well or $3 imperial pint for being so dang special.
