One side is dubbed the Alliance, and the other side is dubbed the Coalition. Each faction is the sworn enemy of the other. At some point, centuries before our story takes place, the city decided that their wars had been too destructive, so they created a somewhat more civilized manner of dealing with each other: Contest. Both sides of the city operate as typical municipalities would in our world, except for where issues concerning both sides are concerned.
