For the second consecutive year, Rich Elrath of Posi Productions gathers more than 20 of the Lone Star State’s most abrasive acts for a two-day hardcore showdown. Houston thrashers the Jonbenét, along with Warwolf and Condemned Unit, jump-start Friday, while H-Town’s Pride Kills and Will to Live close out Saturday, both performing their last Austin shows. The real draw is the apocalyptic boom of locals Mammoth Grinder, who are even heavier and more punishing than the name suggests. – Austin Powell more at austinchronicle.com

Known to most folks younger than, say, 30, as a name in Kid Rock’s ‘American Bad Ass’ (‘I like AC/DC and ZZ Top … Seger, Limp, Korn, the Stones, David Allan Coe and no show Jones’). Coe remains the most outlaw of the outlaw country generation, what with the hanging out with Pantera dudes and all.
