This show is one of the biggest and most robust Sing-Alongs we have in our catalog, and in the past we’d built two and a half different versions of it because one show just wouldn’t hold all of the ladies we wanted to include. Well, that’s still true this time around, but instead of making different volumes, we’re just going to collect ALL of our favorite 80s ladies’ videos into one collection on the media server, and every night of this show will be just a little bit different. That said, you don’t have to worry if you can’t come out week after week (although you really should); the cream of the crop videos will be in there every time, and all of our prop-aided songs, from the red balloons in 99 Red Balloons to the trampolines for Jump (For My Love) and the rainbow of streamers for True Colors will be included in each show. So come out for one show, or come out for all of them. Either way, we ask two very important things of you. As a member of the Bay Area new music collective <a href="http://www.sfsound.org/" target="_blank" title="http://www.sfsound.org/">sfSound</a> and of Gene Coleman's Chicago-based Ensemble Noamnesia, he has performed works by composers including Andriessen, Berio, Braxton, Cage, Cardew, Carter, Crumb, Feldman, Goldstein, Ives, Penderecki, Satie, Sciarrino, Stockhausen, Tenney, Varese, Webern, Xenakis, and Yoshihide. Upon moving to San Francisco in 2003, he joined forces with sfSound and with <a href="http://www.quintetolatino.org/" target="_blank" title="http://www.quintetolatino.org/">Quinteto Latino</a>, a wind quintet selected for the San Francisco Symphony's 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 <a href="http://www.sfsymphony.org/templates/basic.asp?nodeid=160" target="_blank" title="http://www.sfsymphony.org/templates/basic.asp?nodeid=160">Adventures in Music</a> educational program. He has since performed with the SFSO and the regional symphony orchestras of Berkeley, Santa Rosa, Marin, Napa Valley, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Jose, and Stockton and accompanied productions by Golden Gate Opera, Pocket Opera, and Oakland Opera Theater. He has meanwhile become firmly enmeshed in the vibrant local improvised music community, with frequent co-conspirators including Liz Albee, Ernesto Diaz-Infante, Matt Ingalls, John Ingle, Christopher Jones, Aurora Josephson, Jacob Lindsay, Tim Perkis, Dan Plonsey, Jon Raskin, and Toyoji Tomita. Current Bay Area working groups include <a href="http://www.myspace.com/shudder3" target="_blank" title="http://www.myspace.com/shudder3">Shudder</a> (with Lance Grabmiller and Phillip Greenlief), Ghost in the House (with David Michalak, Tom Nunn, and Karen Stackpole) and <a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=52115980" target="_blank" title="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=52115980">Pink Mountain</a> (an outrock band with Sam Coomes, Gino Robair, Scott Rosenberg, and John Shiurba).From 1996 until his westward relocation, he was a fixture in multiple sectors of Chicago's thriving experimental music scene. While teaching and free-lancing as an orchestral musician, he collaborated regularly with many of the city's most creative improvisers and sound artists, including Jason Ajemian, Jim Baker, Jeb Bishop, Olivia Block, Tim Daisy, Guillermo Gregorio, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Robbie Hunsinger, Bob Marsh, Jen Clare Paulson, Weasel Walter, and Michael Zerang. Beyond Lozenge, his underground rock misadventures also led to a short stint in the volatile <a href="http://www.myspace.com/mynameisrarrar" target="_blank" title="http://www.myspace.com/mynameisrarrar">My Name is Rar-Rar</a> (touring in support of The Locust) and to entanglements with neo-no-wave stalwarts Cheer-Accident and Bobby Conn. In the course of his travels, Bruckmann has shared the stage repeatedly with a cast of improvisers including Allesandro Bosetti, Tom Carter, Audrey Chen, Christopher Cogburn, David Dove, Jeremy Drake, Harris Eisenstadt, Bryan Eubanks, James Falzone, Chris Forsyth, Jeff Gburek, Gunda Gottschalk, Anton Hatwich, Boris Hauf, Chris Heenan, Bill Horvitz, Guiseppe Ielasi, James Ilgenfritz, Greg Kelley, Larry Marotta, Tatsuya Nakatani, Kurt Newman, Polwechsel, Bhob Rainey, Vic Rawlings, Frank Rosaly, David Rothbaum, Steve Rush, Sara Schoenbeck, Jason Stein, and Jack Wright. His debut CD of solo improvisations, entymology, available through Barely Auditable Records, was hailed as "an enchanting experience that expands the possibilities (and the comprehension) of the double reed family" (François Couture, All-Music Guide). He has also recorded as leader, collaborator, or sideman for Hat Art, New World, Musica Genera, 482 Music, Sedimental, Archive, Lucky Kitchen, Formed, Nine Winds, Rossbin, Edgetone, ToYo, Sickroom, Farrago, and Locust Music. His session work has graced albums by artists as diverse as indie mope-rock icons Damon and Naomi and confrontational purveyors of noisy blues abjection Oxbow.Bruckmann was born in 1971 in Danbury, CT, hometown of Charles Ives. He earned undergraduate degrees in music and psychology at Rice University in Houston, studying oboe with Robert Atherholt, serving as music director of campus radio station KTRU, and achieving academic distinction as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his Masters degree in 1996 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he studied oboe performance with Harry Sargous and contemporary improvisation with Ed Sarath. He has attended the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival in Maine, the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York, and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.Kurt Johnson - double bass - austin Kurt has listened to music since before he was born, and even though he hasn't played much in the past couple of years, 'music' and 'improvisation' informs his entire outlook on life. He has played professionally for about 20 years with bands such as Lozenge, the Flying Luttenbachers, and Cheer-Accident; 'stars' such as Brian Wilson, Charlotte Church, Dennis Deyoung and Bernadette Peters; and classical groups including the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, the Houston Ballet Orchestra, the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Symphony II (Chicago), and the Baltimore Symphony. He has also traveled around the world as bassist and chaperone with a Seventh Day Adventist youth orchestra. To help pay the bills over the years, Kurt has worked as a bike messenger, dish washer, landscaper, executive assistant, website quality control manager, and rare books librarian. Some years ago, and for reasons not totally understood by himself, Kurt quit playing music and moved to the woods of West Virginia, where he worked as a wilderness survival instructor for at-risk youth, a bartender, and an outdoor maintenance person for a national wildlife refuge. He moved to Austin almost two years ago, began working on another degree, and started working for the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center. And he plays again, once in awhile. Chris Cogburn - percussion - austin Austin-based improvising percussionist Chris Cogburn is an active composer, performer, educator and organizer within an expansive global community of creative artists.  Approaching the physical nature of his chosen instrument with an interest and attention to the drum's subtle and overlooked timbres and textures, Cogburn's music gives rise to unexpected sound worlds suffused with meanings and forms, acute yet infinite.  Moving across, atop, below and around a single drum with a variety of percussive objects and implements, Cogburn's fluid physicality provides a rich dynamic to an expanding complexity of sound. Primarily working in the field of Creative Improvised Music, Cogburn has collaborated with many of the premiere international artists in contemporary music, including: John Butcher, Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster, Dave Dove, Joelle Leandre, Jaap Blonk, Sean Meehan, Joe McPhee and avant-rock outsider Jandek.  Current projects include Cogburn's inter-media group For Forms with poets Joshua Beckman and Jen Bervin, dancer Scotty Heron and avant-turntablist Maria Chavez; and frequent duo collaborations with Vancouver percussionist Jeffrey Allport, avant-vocalist Liz Tonne and Seattle-based pianist Gust Burns. Since 1998, Cogburn has led workshops on creative music making around the US, Canada and Mexico, working in contexts as diverse as inner city community centers, homeless shelters, battered women's shelters, art spaces, dance studios, public and private high schools and elementary schools, Pauline Oliveros' Deep Listening Space and the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico.  He has recently received performance and teaching grants through Meet The Composer, Creative Connections and The Yellow Fox Foundation; held residencies through Seattle Improvised Music, Nameless Sound and Gallery 1412; and has performed at the No Idea Festival, the Seattle Improvised Music Festival, Fuse Box Festival and the No West Festival.  In October 2006 Cogburn was fortunate enough to travel on the Wave Books Poetry Bus, performing solo and with poet/Wave Books editor Joshua Beckman, with a final performance at James Turrell's Roden Crater.
