Storming the 2011 Old Settlers Music Festival in his trademark Nudie-type suit/toreador outfit typically stunning Nashville songmaster Jim Lauderdale made at least one attendee wonder what Gram Parsons might have grown up to be, had the so-called father of country rock not become another proverbial shooting star. Lauderdale not only lived up to his full potential at least a decade ago, but as last years teaming with Dead lyricist Robert Hunter proved, perhaps the best is yet to come.
