We all wish Nas had performed Illmatic front to back last weekend at Emo’s. Credit Wu-Tang’s most lyrical swordsman for giving the people what they want: a live recitation of 1995’s classic Liquid Swords to kick off Emo’s 16th anniversary week. Method Man was smoother, ODB more charismatic, and Ghostface spit more complex slang, but true heads know GZA always had the sharpest tongue. Meth said it best: “We form like Voltron, and GZA happens to be the head.” Locals Zeale and Phranchyze open. – Thomas Fawcett
