Within two years, The Bravery evolved from a fledgling band of college friends mixing their first record on an iMac to a buzzed-about group with a big-label deal—no surprise considering how effectively The Bravery married the new-wave rock revival headed by The Killers and pithy garage stance popularized by The Strokes. The Bravery can be a little cloying, but that hasn’t seemed to bother those who don’t worry about such things, and, on last year’s The Sun And The Moon, the group isn’t afraid to try out a couple of new ideas—including (unfortunately) taking itself seriously. Also playing: The Switches.

The documentary The Legend Of Kitty Kitty Bang Bang won’t be out until later this year, so you’ll have to wait until then to find out the real dirt on Austin’s most notorious burlesque troupe. But for anyone who’s seen these “pistol-packing gals from an undisclosed location in the Hill Country who spend all day pillow-fighting and Bronco-busting,” one thing is already a matter of public record: Kitty Kitty Bang Bang—along with sister troupes like Red Light Burlesque—has almost singlehandedly revived a centuries-old art with its own modern, sexy spin. Here the lovely ladies present two options for Valentine’s Day: A 6:30 p.m. Lovebirds Dinner for happy couples that includes a buffet, and a 10:30 p.m. Singles Soiree to send all the lonelyhearts home with pleasant dreams.
