Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Felice Brothers, Rig 1

In 2008 the Nebrasksa-based indie rock star Conor Oberst abandoned the Bright Eyes moniker he's been performing under since his teens, then rounded up a band headed down to Mexico. Like Oberst, The Felice Brothers have drawn comparisons to Bob Dylan and the Band. Rig 1 opens.

Navdo's Birthday Suit Bash! featuring Brownout! w/The Steps & Eagle Claw

As if Navdo’s one year of putting on some of the best events for catching some of the best in local bands, DJ’s, and artists of all kind, isn’t a good enough reason to in itself to put together Navdo’s Birthday Suit Bash. How about celebrating 10 years of Navdo? Even better, Navdo (aka Nardo/Le Ren) just wants to invite you to celebrate his, and all of our other December born friends birthday’s, in typical Navdo style. 3 reasons, no excuse.

Bring your Birthday Suit and celebrate this event with music from some of Austin’s best: Brownout!, The Steps, Eagle Claw and DJ GMAU.

The event takes place @ The Parish on Monday Dec. 8th.

$5 gets you the music, “killer” drink specials, and ...??

Tickets on Sale Fri. 11/21

Broken Social Scene is a Juno Award-winning Canadian indie rock musical collective, characterized by numerous sounds, grand orchestrations featuring guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins, unusual song structures, upbeat tempos and an experimental, and sometimes-chaotic production style.

Toronto musicians and friends, Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, started Broken Social Scene in 1999. Building on that collaboration, the band has since featured and spun-off some of the most recognizable names in indie rock including Leslie Feist, and Metric’s Emily Haines and James Shaw.

Broken Social Scene’s 2002 recording, You Forgot It in People was released to great Canadian praise and fanfare. The band spent the next two-and-a-half years on tour in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Drew and managers Jeff Remedios and Daniel Cutler also launched their own imprint, Arts & Crafts, which became home to Broken Social Scene and its numerous satellite acts, such as Apostle of Hustle and Stars.

This event is presented by the Performing Arts Center with the Texas Union Student Events Center’s Music and Entertainment Committee (MEC). The majority of funding for this event is provided through the MEC by designated tuition paid by all students.
