Home > Pet Friendly Austin

Based on the quality of dog-friendly accommodations, parks, attractions, stores, dining and other things to do with your dog, Austin is listed as one of the Top 10 dog-friendly cities in the United States. We’d like to think that fact would make Captain William Judy proud. That’s because in 1928, Captain Will had the foresight to found National Dog Week, which is recognized each year during the last full week in September. This year it is being honored September 23-29.

What National Dog Week means depends on the individual, but the general purpose of is to educate all dog owners in their responsibilities to their pets and to their communities, particularly those organizations dedicated to caring for unwanted or lost dogs. One thing individuals can do is make donations of money and food to local shelters, because they are always in need of help to care for our furry friends. There are lots of other ideas and information at the National Dog Week blog.

Being that we here at Do512 focus on things to DO in Austin, we put together a list of things you can do, and places you can go with your pup.
