September 16th is Grito de Dolores, also known as Mexican Independence Day! On this day in 1810 the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla proclaimed a revolt to his fellow citizens in the small village of Dolores, beginning the decade-long war against Spain.  Hidalgo's famous speech has now become vital to Mexican history and symbolic of the country's independence.  And that's reason to celebrate!
